During the Second Opium War in 1860, Franco-British troops invaded the Old Summer Palace in Beijing and destroyed it. Many artefacts were also looted. This event is a definite trauma for China, but unfortunately remains relatively unknown in Europe. The program developed by Cooperans in coordination with European and Chinese partners will support the study study of this event and its consequences.

Through this project, Cooperans conducts educational and memorial actions to increase awareness of the destruction of the Old Summer Palace among European institutions and audience.
